A 'Rush Is the Leader' TV Ad

Continuing the newfound theme of liberals proclaiming Rush Limbaugh the leader of the GOP (more on that here), activist group Americans United for Change has announced it will begin airing a TV ad dedicated, almost solely, to making that claim, calling on Republicans to reject Limbaugh's politics.

Not only is Rush the leader of the Republican Party, according to the ad, Sarah Palin, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, RNC Chairman Michael Steele, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell are specifically NOT the party's leaders, at least as indicated by the raucous applause Limbaugh received at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in DC over the weekend. (Limbaugh, it should be noted, is no stranger to Americans United for Change ads--the group has used his "fail" comment since early February to blast Republicans for opposing President Obama's stimulus.) The ad will air in DC and on national cable as early as Thursday through the end of next week, the group says.

I fully support any effort to bracket Rush Limbaugh with Republican Party leadership.

I suggest a TV ad campaign with the cut of Limbaugh saying he wants Obama to fail with a tag line of, "Do you want this man to be the leader of your country?"

In the 2010 election cycle the image of Limbaugh should be bracketed with every Republican candidate with the question to the candidate "Who is your leader?"

This theme should be repeated until the Republicans are forced to repudiate Limbaugh as their spokesman and de facto leader.

My goal is to achieve a filibuster proof U.S. Senate, maintain the majority in the House and deal a damaging blow to that ignorant blowhard.

I'm looking at the"Yes, Yes, Yes ad right now. Keep them coming.

How silly. Liberals can proclaim all they want, Rush is no more a THE leader of the Republican Party than Al Sharpton is the leader of the Democratic Party. Michael Steele was elected Chairman of the Republican Party and all the raving and ranting of the liberal crowd can't change that. Make your silly commercials, the Republicans can make a helluva lot more with the likes of Sharpton and Wright and a host of other left wing demagogs.

So Steele just had a brain fart when he said he was the leader and that Rush's show was just entertainment and

Please paint me a scenario where Tim Kaine ends up groveling at the feet of Al Sharpton or Jeremy Wright. How would that come about? And how easy would it be for Al Sharpton or Jeremy Wright to hold the DNC's fund raising efforts hostage if they didn't get an apology from Tim Kaine for some insult as Rush Limbaugh did to Steele yesterday on his show? It's not going to happen. Democratic politicians score political points by criticizing those two while Republican politicians pay a heavy price for criticizing Limbaugh so your analogies fail. Face it, Limbaugh is immensely unpopular outside of the Republican base but has enormous power within it. Your stuck with him.

I love the idea that Obama and Limbaugh are somehow equals in our national conversation. Obama in attempting to elevate Limbaugh to head of the Republican party is just demonstrating his own remarkable pettiness. What an ugly man. I guess this fits with the campaign we saw last year.

What a fucking joke this administration is turning out to be. At least GW Bush, for all his faults, never acted as if his political opponents could be reduced to Michael Moore.

Bush brought us into this mess. Own up to it. Consrvatives voted with him on most bills for 8 years. He denied we had a trouble economy until it crashed. Deny history at your parrell.

President Obama isn't wallowing in the muck with Rush Limbaugh. Your comment is absurd and probably a sign of bigotry.

However, the Democrats should begin establishing their own Swift Boat program and carry it right through 2012 by painting every Republican candidate with a picture of a glaring Rush Limbaugh standing right behind him. Maybe if the Republicans must repudiate Limbaugh and his ilk, they will start thinking of the welfare of the American people rather than their own narrow political agenda.

The Democrats have had eight years to learn the art of the big lie from the Republicans and they and this country have paid a ridiculously high tuition for this education. Turn about is fair play.

Sarah Justice

As far as I understand, President Obama and his administration are not associated with this effort.

You are correct Sarah. The administration has kept a safe distance from this tainted issue. It's just old hacks like me who want to run with it.

I say it's a Eureka moment. Rush Limbaugh has become our Willie Horton. Crank up the revolving door.

Sure he is the leader. He is the bomb. He is the man. Follow him yea ditto heads like leemings to the sea.

Sarah and Orrin are so dumb, they probably voted for Obama. How fucking gullible are you? Gibbs is out there spreading this, along with every liberal blogger and every friendly media person. It's coordinated. And it's stupid. I mean, we're facing a depression and our best minds in government are focused on a pr offensive against Rush Limbaugh. Is this what these clowns think governance is about? Have they given up on winning reelection based on results? How else to explain this?

roncee (Replying to: handlethetruth)

You are correct handlethetruth. From their comments it's doubtful they know who Gibbs is.

Rush Limbaugh has become the Jeremiah Wright, William Ayres and Willie Horton of the Republican Party. A bomb-throwing radical, he has emerged as a national embarrassment to the GOP. The difference is that the others were very marginalized figures, totally peripheral to the Democrats. Limbaugh now controls the GOP. Certainly, no GOP leader today can buck Rush, or throw him under the bus.

HT you're a nit wit and egalitarianism does not require that we treat with fools. I will ignore you as unworthy of notice.

This is a sideshow issue. Not the political issue of the day. It is fun to bash Rush Limbaugh and I'm reveling in it.

I will stay on message.

Fringe groups like the Swift Boaters funded by fat cat Liberals just as the SBers were by Conservatives can reek havoc with the Republicans by launching a hostile attack on the Republican Party with Limbaugh as the focus. I promote that and wish that this message would get to someone who can make it happen.

I resent the ignominy that the feckless son and his ethically challenged minions put us through for the last eight years and want to insure that this type of Republicanism never returns to power.

There is a Republicanism of honor and moderation that believes in small government and small taxes without a scorched earth policy towards those who do not agree with them. When the cycle turns and the Republicans come back to power my it be that wing of the party that leads them.

Get rid of the pasty faced (except John Boener) beady eyed, pursed lipped school masters who want to wag their fingers at us from the podium as if we were bad children who do not respect their elders. They are not worthy of respect and although Limbaugh is just their buffoon, lets use his buffoonery to take them down for good.
