El Rushbo concedes he doesn't why Sarah Palin resigned, but he knows that she has a brighter future than her critics anticipate. "If Sarah Palin has any desire to do speeches, to raise money, to earn money... if she has any desire for a future in politics.... she has to do it in the lower 48."

Mr.Ambinder,
I hope I'm correct assuming you've accurately synthesized Limbaugh's remarks, because my time on this world is far too short to ever spend a second of it listening to him, despite the fact that in this specific instance he may be correct. I suspect I may not be alone in this.
Marc,
Do you really not have a way to weed out or delete comments that employ the term "fat c***"? If not, you or The Atlantic should be working on that.
And in case it's not clear, it's not that it's an R-rated word - it's the obviously misogynistic use.
Totally unnecessary, rude, and irrelevant personal attacks. And what do Marc's or Rush's weight have to do with anything? If you wouldn't say it to his face, pal, don't say it at all. Don't listen to em Marc. I think it's pretty telling that even someone as mild-mannered, even-handed, and hesitant to cast aspersions as Ambinder is still the target of stuff like this.
In fact, I agree with abcommentator - the comments here should be more strictly moderated, Atlantic Politics Channel! Don't let it become the disgusting mess that ruined McArdle's otherwise strong comments section. I'm all for totally free-speech zones on the Internet, but it's the Atlantic's prerogative not to let this space be one. That's one of the things I and, I suspect, most other readers like about this website.
Keep up the good work Marc. Sorry for feeding the troll.
Those who haven't listened to it should. Limbaugh's undeniable area of expertise is in taking the pulse of what's left of the Republican base, and his candid and spittle-free comments on Palin's resignation are worth hearing in order to get that perspective.
And I happen to agree with him this far - I'm hearing far too much of people who never liked Palin in the first place dancing on her grave, when there's no really no reason for it. Palin was *always* an erratic dilletante, and it never stopped her before. Why should it make a difference now? Or, as Limbaugh would have it, Palin was always a unconventional and decisive leader, who understands the tough choices faced by the common man. Her latest move just reinforces that image, too.
