Question Of The Day: What If Daschle Were In Charge?

Where would health care be right now if Tom Daschle were in charge of shepherding it through Congress?

It would still have zero votes from Republicans and a few Dems from tiny little states would still be getting hundreds of thousands of dollars from insurance companies to delay and frustrate the public good in favor of corporate profit. This has been another edition of simple answers to simple questions.

The bill probably would have moved faster and smoother through the Senate.

The flip side is that it would probably be even weaker than it is now since Daschle is basically an insurance company lobbyist.

I’m guessing that the Blue Dog Democrats who are holding up the bill would probably be even less likely to vote for it when courted by a former Senate Majority Leader who got tossed out by the people from his home State. As would Harry Reid.

And Daschle’s tax problems would be highlighted repeatedly in contrast to the new taxes and tax penalties in the bill.
