Don't rule it out, because apparently Palin wouldn't either in an interview with Newsmax:
Palin initially chuckled when Newsmax broached the idea. But then she had some serious words of praise for the popular Fox personality.
"I can envision a couple of different combinations, if ever I were to be in a position to really even seriously consider running for anything in the future, and I'm not there yet," Palin tells Newsmax. "But Glenn Beck I have great respect for. He's a hoot. He gets his message across in such a clever way. And he's so bold -- I have to respect that. He calls it like he sees it, and he's very, very, very effective."
This is an interesting thing to think about. Palin/Beck could unite the
conservative anti-Obama movement and basically form a Tea Party ticket
that would vent the anti-stimulus, anti-Democratic health care reform,
anti-cap-and-trade, sentiment that's been brewing with a firestorm of
angry, populist rallies. It would basically double the phenomenon that
happened at Palin's rallies on the trail for McCain.
Then again,
Palin not ruling it out isn't exactly a big deal: it's pretty
improbable that she would come out and say, "No, I would not run with
Glenn Beck." No reason to disappoint their shared supporters.

I used to think that an Obama vs. Palin 2012 match-up would give the Dems a 60-40% landslide victory - something truly, truly historic.
With Beck on the ticket that would probably be more like a 75-25% landslide Democratic victory.
Then you don't understand the paradigm shift happening in politics in this country. A Palin/Beck ticket would knock-out anything the GOP or the Dems could ever put together. Both parties would suddenly find themselves on the sidelines while the American people flock to Palin/Beck. The corrupt politics of the Dems and the GOP would finally have their backs broken!
I would support this ticket with everything I have.
I have no doubt that you would. But the question is ... HOW MUCH DO YOU HAVE? The Palin/Beck base is almost EXCLUSIVELY white and middle, lower-middle, or lower class. The lower down the white socio-economic ladder, the greater the support. But these folks do NOT have the money OR the clout to get a presidential candidate elected. No matter how much "heart" you put into such a campaign, it just WON'T work. Period.
DeeDee,
Wow, you have your classes info way off. Let me give you an example... Three weeks ago I went to a training seminar for Conservative Activists. All of us (70-75 give or take a few) got to talk a great deal amongst ourselves during breaks, lunch, etc. The breakdown was overwhelmingly small business owners, a couple of well-to-do retirees, and one person on Social Security Disability. At least half of the people there had also gone to the 9/12 march on D.C. During lunch one of the presenters came in and asked us all to write down who the Conservative leaders are on the horizon for 2012. Only six people out of the group wrote down something other than Sarah Palin.
The break-away folks from the Republican party, the Independents, and quite a few Conservative Democrats have had enough! Everyone is more than willing to support a 3rd party, but it has to have the right leader. Everyday more and more people are saying they hope it's Sarah. And the people doing this are from all socio-economic classes, and every minority and ethnic background. This is a true and very real movement. To deny it is just plain silly.
Oh yes it would. People have too much at stake-their very lives-if the NObamas have their way. People will rally and even give their money.I know I would! The reason is because not only has the government been lying, it is acting outside of the constitution. (take the senators and representatives at rallies that they set up to "hear the people" and then they make fun of them and tell the people what their going to do--this is unprecidented. These people really should be prosecuted, at leas voted out. George must be rolling over in his grave.
So now we need to have an African American on the ticket to win? I don't think so... African Americans have always voted 98+% democrat (which I find weird since historically, democrats were against Civil rights and for Slavery), so there really was no change from the African American vote. Obamamania and his goons have destroyed this country in just 1 year. 2012 will definitely be a slap in the face to liberals all across this country. Honestly, if the weight of the Congress and Senate doesn't level out - I could easily see another Revolution in the country. A scary situation indeed.
YES!
A much better ticket: Beck and Palin as co-hosts of their own TV show! whatever it takes to keep them away from political office.
Beck and Palin are pro U.S. and patriots. They could not possibly do worse than the gang of thieves presently in power.
Anyone who even slightly respects either one of them should be feared for their dangerous levels of stupid.
And I suppose you are so much smarter than everyone else, right? People like you help to destroy everything that is good in this country. You have a lot of nerve calling millions of Americans stupid!
Yes, I am much smarter than you and millions of Americans. You are all stupid.
Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let's move on.
Now all us stupid Americans know you and your friend 'pleaseno' are hateful low-life elitists!
It is people like you that encourage class-warfare.
Everything that is good huh? Like some wrestling? Like going to the library and picking up some movies? Like some crazy rants about Communism, Socialism, and Terrorism and then using them all as synonyms? Like preaching about the benefits of celibacy while at the same time popping out baby after baby and each one losing more and more IQ points? I love Sarah Palin. She is such a timesaver. Instead of asking, "Are you a panicky lunatic with a short memory who can barely read?" Now I just have to ask, "Do you like Palin?" Go Sarah Go!
You continue to prove how hateful and rediculous you are.
Good job!
Excuse me! How many books have you read in your lifetime.
Two? Anyone who supports this Congress who is purposely looting the taxpaper's treasury is in need of their 2nd grade certificate.
There is no money to pay for these schemes. This Congress doesn't care if they keep you enslaved. They are the "Elites" & they will be happy to take your tax money to pass out to their friends! Oh right...you aren't one of the ones who works & will pay for all the freebies! Read a book! Get your GED!
Well, I could point out the irony of your grammatical errors while telling me to read more but that would be off topic. Instead, I'll just mock your accusations and assumptions that are so far off, much like your leader of the Stupids, Sarah Palin. Who said I support this Congress? I'm a conservative looking for someone else who is too but can't find a real one. Who says I hate Palin fans? I do my best to treat everyone equally, especially the mentally challenged. You have every right to live your life as you see fit. I just don't like it when you gather in large masses with mis-information and do dangerous things like voting for inept sociopaths like Palin. And one more thing, people who say "Elites" aren't part of the elite. Why don't one of you people look up the word "rogue" and then share it with your fellow morons. You might be in for a surprise.
"Pro US and patriots"? Are you fucking insane? They guy makes millions by scaring little old ladies with Joe McCarthy retoric. And she wouldn't be on the national stage if she looked like Madeline Albright. That is the only thing going for her. She's hot but stupid as a rock!
LOL! You know, Sean, I never really thought about it that way, but you're RIGHT!
Palin's young, hot ... she's a mom with young, visible kids ... and she talks in cute, "kitsch-y" slang (you betcha!). Take away the kids, Substitute a woman of Madeline Albright's face, body, and age -- saying the SAME things but without the kitschy slang, and she would NOT be electable. She wouldn't even be on the political RADAR.
Heck, the REAL Madeline Albright wouldn't be electable ... even though she is one of the most intelligent and politically astute women in the world. To this day, she remains one of the most successful and effective secretaries-of-state in US history.
A Palin/Beck ticket would result in unparalleled, heretofore-unimagined levels of Democratic fundraising ... and effective "swift-boat" attacks on both of them by mainstream Republicans. Their base is not generally "monied" or powerful Republicans -- which is why their base LIKES them both. But that base is not capable of mounting and maintaining a viable campaign. They like to think they are in the majority, but they're not. They are just a VERY vocal and active fringe of the American public.
I agree. Another thing to put into perspective is the potential clash of two strong, opinionated individuals. Palin claims she was bullied during the McCain campaign; she'll will not allow anyone, including Beck, to bully her this time around. I'm sorry to say this, but yes, she's not the brightest star in the firmament and the "coaching" of her peers will be unavoidable.
Palin/Beck is a wacky idea that might actually happen. Consider:
Every literate, thoughtful American knows that Glenn Beck's book, "Glenn Beck's Common Sense" is a miasmatic swamp of lies, half-truths, stupidity, ignorance, faulty logic, mealy-mouthed cheap shots and uproarious pretensions. Reviews now coming in largely tell that Sarah Palin's book is more of the same, but with lipstick, apple pie, a minivan, and cute hooters.
What a lot of literate, thoughtful Americans fail to realize is the true nature of the Teabagger set. One can arrive at a worthwhile appraisal of the Teabagger phenomenon by reading the customer reviews of "Glenn Beck's Common Sense" at, say, Amazon.com. What one notices there is that the reviewers lie to themselves and to each other -- not only about Glenn Beck and his book but about the worth of their appraisals. People who can barely write and can't spell at all pretend to own all sorts of credentials. One yahoo says something like: "I'm a political scientist and I think Glenn Beck's book is great." Another one chimes in with something like "Me, too! And I'm a doctor." And so it goes.
What we're stuck with, as Americans, is a whole underclass of people so desperate for heroes that they make heroes of such as Palin and Beck. They lie to each other; they lie to themselves about the nature of the people they believe in. It's like if me and my live-in companion, talking about my cat, marvel at her ability to read Voltaire in the original French and her prowess with a dueling pistol. And we keep inventing more and more skills and virtues to hang on the poor creature until, one day, we find those things aren't really true and then decide to kill the poor cat because she lied to us.
The people who slobber after the likes of Beck and Palin are the same set who bolted the Democratic Party in 1980 and put Ronald Reagan in the White House. Having pinned their hopes on that load of BS, they've been voting for it ever since. George W. Bush finally taught them that the Republican Party doesn't care a damn for them and their problems. We used to call them "Reagan Democrats" but we were wrong: they were never Democrats nor were they ever Republicans. As "Teabaggers," they now stand revealed as what they are and always were: a leaderless mob of uneducated and deluded white trash (casualties produced by television) who believe passionately in something they call "America" even though they have no idea what that something actually is.
There aren't enough of them to put Palin/Beck in the Oval Office. But there are enough of them to keep the GOP out of the Oval Office if they manage to split the Republican Party. Beyond that they are dangerous because, after they tire of Palin and Beck, there's no telling who they'll hook up with next. Ron Paul would be my guess, but it's only a guess. Paul is getting awfully old and may not live to be on the menu in 2012, so who knows what the Teabaggers will order? Whatever it is will be bad for them and for all of us.
The rule of law is broken. The cat of civil disorder is out of the bag and running loose in the streets. Good night and good luck, America -- wherever you are.
You know what the difference between us is? (and it's not that I support Palin/Beck for Pres, cause I don't)
I wouldn't have a problem with my party losing another election with the hope of improving itself so we can one day fix the country.
You apparently think the end goal is to win elections and advance as much of your agenda as possible, to hell with the costs.
There's something to the thought that the loss of an election leads to intra-party reflection for the better.
But then, while that (sometime necessary) sparring is taking place, the other party is in power.
Until a viable 3rd party actually emerges, the danger in this process results in the possible incarnation of GW Bush.
I won't take that risk.
samX -- I don't have a party. I've been voting third party since 1998. I've wanted a revolution since the middle 1970s. I want one still. I just absolutely DON'T WANT what the Teabaggers are wound up to give us.
Dear Comrade:
Excellent Assessment of your pending Soviet Union of the United States under Obama & this Congress!
You certainly are the smartest amoung us. Name Call, Berate, Social Engineer & Control! End of Discussion Right!
That's how it's done!
Brilliant -- your powers of extrapolation keep you extrapped down. For instance, I'm not a Marxist and never have been. I read his book and found it BORING.
I was born and raised in Iowa and served four years in the U.S. Marines 1969-72. I don't know where you were while I was in the Marines but I don't remember seeing you there. I suspect you may have served as one of those famous cysts that kept Rushbo out of the Army.
On your other extrapolation: I don't think I'm the smartest among all the folks who comment here, but I take satisfaction in knowing that I'm certainly smarter than YOU. Proof of my assertion is that you are what you are despite the fact that we both grew up in a country where education is free and available to anyone who can read the books and write the papers.
Hence stupidity is a permanent condition in America just as anywhere, but ignorance is a choice. Which situation is yours I cannot say with certainty, but your personal problems are your personal responsibility. It may help you to ponder the idea that today is the first day of the rest of your life.
Good night and good luck.
Jimmy,
IOWA - Idiots Out Wandering Around. I doubt you were in the Marine Corps as you claim. I was, for 11 years and had I come across someone of your ilk we would have gone behind the woodshed. I have no doubt who would have returned. It is amazing how you psycho-analyze everyone with only the smallest amount of information to form your opinion.
I guess I am a "white trash teabagger" by your estimates. Obviously anyone who disagrees with your outdated and out of touch views must be insulted. What a sad life you must live. Enjoy the corn fields and cow dung. That is all there is in Iowa. I know, my wife is from there. She happened to have the good sense to move.
Go dawdle your female cat with your "live-in companion" (and I am a 'teabagger'?).
Good night and good luck.
Wow, thanks for writing this. Very insightful and cleverly worded.
However, I am disheartened by your cynical concept of a "white trash teabagger" and your pessimistic ending. I am not comfortable separating people into categories....it too easily becomes "we against them."
I don't think the rule of law can ever be "broken." I believe basic principals of justice and fairness have become distorted, bought and manipulated by corporate America for profit and power. The will of the American people to embrace their democratic responsibility to uphold law and order, justice and equality is waiting to be rekindled. We are in increasing danger of losing our collective moral integrity as a society. Modern sensation seeking entertainment reflects that degenerate slide.
The American public has been very comfortable and tends to turn a blind eye and sometimes idealizes immorality and lawlessness (as freedom, maverick, rogue, rebel) unless their personal security/comfort is threatened. The threat to their security and comfort is now very real to most American's. The sleeping dragon awakens.
I do like your reference to those frightened ones who are looking for a hero. My thoughts on that are:
Some, recently and rudely aroused from their comfort zone coma, are startled by a vulnerable sense of exposure into wanting a security guarantee. Their insecurity is easily fomented into fear of doom, desperate finger pointing and an hysterical quest for Divine guidance and answers. Limbaugh, Beck, Palin and others are making a lot of money off these desperate, frightened, lost souls. Ignorance increasingly clings to hyped, intolerant talk shows (ironically for comfort) and fundamentalist religious dogma perhaps as a form of dooms day insurance.
I agree, these startled sleepwalkers are looking for a hero, divine or human, to pull them to safety because they lack the good will and trust to work with their community and confidence to rely upon their own resourcefulness.
There is an old saying, "A scared man is a dangerous man."
I do agree that a whole lot of people lie to themselves and each other. The consequences of long living a personal and national lie are experienced now in the desperate economic and social state of America.
My favorites:
This is such a thoughtful and perfect description!
"Every literate, thoughtful American knows that Glenn Beck's book, "Glenn Beck's Common Sense" is a miasmatic swamp of lies, half-truths, stupidity, ignorance, faulty logic, mealy-mouthed cheap shots and uproarious pretensions. Reviews now coming in largely tell that Sarah Palin's book is more of the same, but with lipstick, apple pie, a minivan, and cute hooters."
and,
"What we're stuck with, as Americans, is a whole underclass of people so desperate for heroes that they make heroes of such as Palin and Beck. They lie to each other; they lie to themselves about the nature of the people they believe in"
and,
"...uneducated and deluded .... (casualties produced by television) who believe passionately in something they call "America" even though they have no idea what that something actually is."
whyHate? -- What you call pessimism is only one expression of my historian's certainty that the mess in which we Americans find ourselves must of necessity get a whole lot worse before it begins to get better. There is, too, the idea that modernity never improved human nature but merely criminalized its expression.
Now the rule of law is broken (Yes, it is broken but the consequences have so far only begun to develop.) primal screams from the street will soon be audible in the highest of skyscraper boardrooms. Sir James George Fraser described what's coming in the opening chapters of "The Golden Bough." Something (I've not looked it up) about 'Now and then polite society is startled by a spurt of flame from beneath the thin crust of civilization upon which we stand,' or words to that effect.
On the whole, I'm glad I live in rural Iowa. Good night and good luck.
I guess Palin hasnt heard Mister Beck mock the mentally handicapped when they play "Jeopratardy" and "Moron Trivia". How did the song go..... oh yeah...
"Are you ready for some morons?
An idiot party
We’re all hanging with Glenn
And our mission is to call up
And mess with the retarded.
Yeah their teeth are gnashing
Helmets on too tight
And all the imbeciles are back
for More-On fights.
Everybody is a fan
Of those riding in a special van
Got their heads deep in the sand
And a short attention span.
When they ring up your gas
Your change is never right
All the imbeciles are back for moron fights.
Oh,YEAH, he's electable! Riiiiiiiiiiight ... siwwy Gwen, politics are for WEAL people!
Yes a Palin Beck ticket make a lot of sense of happening based on many citizens trending toward Anti-intellectualism. Wikipedia defines Anti-intellectualism: ...In public discourse, Anti-intellectuals usually perceive and publicly present themselves as champions of the common folk — populists against élitists and academic élitism — proposing that educated people are a social group detached from the quotidian concerns of the majority, and that they dominate political discourse and higher education...". Anti-intellectualism has strong roots within the fundamentalist religious.
A few years back there was a movie named Idiocracy. The premise was that 500 years in the future the world has degenerated into a dystopia where advertising, commercialism, and cultural anti-intellectualism run rampant and dysgenic pressure has resulted in a uniformly stupid human society devoid of individual responsibility or consequences. Based on the actions and beliefs of the extreme Right that 500 years was accelerated to the present.
Those of the Right that are expressing open resentment, and in some cases the death of President Obama, really need to be retrospective of where that hate comes from. The mess that Obama is trying to fix is the direct result of 8 years of a corrupt Bush administration that held Corporate America's wellbeing above those of the very folks that are so pissed off today. Yet they can't face up to what caused todays problems. We have 2 ongoing wars, one justified based on 911, but one that was a deliberate desire of Bush, yet unjustified in the reasons for the war. A conservative estimate in 2008 that the total cost of the war in Iraq will exceed $3 Trillion. And at the same time we had a President that cut taxes for the rich and passed a unfunded Medicare Drug Program that in 2005, the White House Budget had increased the 10-year estimate of the Drug Program to $1.2 trillion, again unfunded and part of the deficit. Both the Tax cut and Drug Bill passed the Senate by closure, not a 60 vote majority. Along the way Bush deregulated the banking industry and credit card companies and made bankruptcy more difficult for consumers. We also had the largest loss of jobs, most outsourced to offshore and never coming back, in Bush's 8 years. So you are angry because Obama can't get this fixed in 1 year, what are you nuts. It will take 5 to 8 years before the wrongs of the Bush administration can be corrected. And keep in mind the first $900 Billion of untraceable TARP funds was done by Bush. So maybe its time to turn your angry toward the crook of the century, GW Bush.
Back on subject how do two morons like Beck and Palin get us back to the promised land?
Conspirator, you are correct in the things you point out, but I take issue with the fact that Dubya was behind all that mess. Simply put, the man is NOT intelligent enough to have planned, manipulated the public, and carried out such complicated machinations ... even though he claimed "I'm the DECIDER." I'm not saying the man is stupid, but he is just not that intelligent ... just an average good ol' boy.
NO, Dubya was a PUPPET, put in place and completely controlled (although they let him think HE was in charge) by Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, and Paul Wolfowitz. They were the masterminds behind all of those dasterdly deeds, lies, and the plan to convince the public to support an invasion of Iraq. They accomplished this by playing on American's natural xenophobia and fear of terrorists, following 9/11. They shut down any critics by having them declared unpatriotic and unAmerican.
They ruined the careers of patriotic, honored American veterans who dared to oppose them -- think John Kerry and Max Clelland -- with lies and fabricated "evidence" against these heroes.
Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and Sean Hannity are their disciples and learned their lessons at the feet of yhese Master Manipulators.
No, Dubya was NOT the doer OR the decider, he was just the mouthpiece.
DeeDee, I have said the same things you just stated and agree with you. From most accounts GW is very likable, politics aside, and does believe in his principals. And yes he was manipulated by Rove and Cheney. One thing that sticks out so much is how GW never fired anybody when they screwed up. I think thats based on his being a born again Christian. A main tenet for so many born agains is that results are as important as your intentions being right. That aside this ship called the USA hit the iceberg with him at the helm.
Yeah, George had decency, unlike Obama who will throw people under a Bus in a heart-beat!
Academic élititist are the ones that have tried to manipulate the country to their liking, which unfortunately is more like a Marxist paradis. Which will never exist!
It is they that have taught our youth to hate, hate, hate. American citizens have been duped into paying for college for their children only to have their Professors fill them with HATE!
Too bad they have had so long to also work on the '45 Communist Goals for America'. Real Americans from every socio-economic, ivy school graduates and drop-outs are now catching on. We may be a little late, but now that we have started, we cannot be stopped!
Giovanni, can't agree with you. I am extreme Liberal have been my entire 60 years, went to college, I love this country and served in the military oversees. I go to Church every Sunday and believe in God and I while I'm personally not in favor of abortion, I recognize God put us here to make our own choices, so I believe women should have that choice. I also love the 2nd Amendment and how much I love should never be questioned by anyone I don't like. Gee I don't sound like a real Liberal, truth is most of us 60's type weren't all flower power, some were and still are very militant. Other than these confused old folks, tea baggers, bigots and sore losers what has the Right to offer the voters? There isn't one intellectual or at least smart GOP leader. The party bows to Beck, Palin, Hannity, Rush and the rest of the Right media making money off of hate. You were smart not to get an education so that those Academic élititist couldn't convert you to being a Marxist .
The reason the dems are attacking Palin is because they see her as a threat, of course. Otherwise they would leave her alone. Whether or not she runs in 2012 if you think she's stupid, then you should take another look, she's stupid like a fox. She is the down to earth, grassroots kind of personality that could, if she is willing, take back this country to rebuild into what it was meant to be. Remember the contitution--17 pages, lasted 200+ years longer than any document of any country now in existence, the healthcare plan 2,000 pages that probably no representative has even read. What are you going to stake your future on?
Giovanni, to your "Obama who will throw people under a Bus in a heart-beat!" How and what has you all so scared? So many of you hate Obama and when I question why all I get are Rush and FOX news talking points. This is just like when Clinton was in office so many of the Right hated him, but they could not articulate why. You remember Clinton, he is the guy who handed GW a country without one penny of deficit. And you are afraid of who..............BOO!
Oh by the way, I'm off this blog, sorry I can't hear more from the Right wing Nuts. I have to make a choice between blasting Plain,Beck, Rush, Fox News or having a bowel movement. The Bowel movement wins out over those idiots everyday.
All the discussion threads seem to be blasting Palin for saying Glen Beck is a "hoot." Well he is and frankly I am so sick and tired of double-speaking, wishy-washy, back-biting politics as usual that I personally find Sarah Palin and her plain-spoken rhetoric a bit of political fresh air. As for her lack of experience in Washington can anyone say '125 days in the Senate'????
Isn't it interesting that Fox news sponsors so much disinformation and hype, to foment and inspire fear and distrust of our government, at a time when we finally have someone in the White House who is working for the American People rather than throwing us to the corporate wolves.
For those like Giovanni the focus is on killing the messenger rather than doing something to improve conditions in America for the people of America. Who incites little Giovanni's to fear and hate our government?
Who finances Fox news people? Who employs entertaining hateful separatists like Beck, Palin and Limbaugh? Think about it. Who masterminded those funny, variable interest rate mortgages and credit cards that are impossible to pay off and crashed our economy? Who denies treatment for seriously ill health insurance policy holders? Who masterminded Dead Peasant employee life insurance policies? Who financed Hitler as their spokesperson to breed fear and hatred against innocent men, women and children inciting common people into unimaginable acts of violence?
Fear based propaganda is paid for by those whose purpose is to manipulate ignorant minds in a particular direction for profit and power. People who like to be entertained by spit throwing hatemonger news are the ignorant masses. They don't listen, they can't comprehend and their big issue of concern is their own tiny, personal need and want.
Instead of a group discussion, for the common good, amongst fellow Americans about how to regulate the corrupt, greedy financiers, strengthen the economy and prevent a depression or how to improve a failing health care system and the many other important issues of our time....we are instead here arguing the absurd like children in danger of becoming Lord's of the Flies.
As for a Palin/Beck "dream" ticket. The same silly extremists who crashed the Republican party in 08 are already working hard to finish it off in 2012.
Let's try to remember we are a national community in a global community. We need to work together to solve our collective problems. If we continue to listen to those who encourage us to fear and distrust one another we will end up turning against each other and everyone will lose.
Who did those things? Was it George Soros? No, he is a Liberal. He has and will do nothing wrong. Was it Rev. Wright? No, he is a racist. No wrong there. Was it Billy boy Ayers? No, he is a self admitted terrorist. No problem there. Was it Van Jones? No, he is a self avowed Communist. Again, no problem. I know I am merely spreading hate. Give me a break. "Judge me by the people I surround myself with." I have. He is a mistake.
exxjarhead -- I just dropped in here to say I think it's awfully nice for you that you found someone who would rather live with you than with cow dung. You're a very lucky fellow, and I hope you have sense enough to be grateful for your good fortune.
Good night and good luck.
Jimmy
It's wacky enough to work and, if so, I'm getting one of these:
