Sarah Palin's memoir has the buzz--it even has a liberal-authored spoof on the way--and President Bush has been out of the public eye since flying away in a helicopter on the day of President Obama's inauguration, meaning his upcoming book will be the first that most Americans have heard from him in the past nine montyhs.
But more Americans actually want to read former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice's upcoming memoir, according to a poll by Vanity Fair and CBS.
When asked which memoir they would be most likely to read, 46 percent said "none of these"--an apparent testament to the popularity of political memoirs today--but Rice's came in first with 22 percent; George W. Bush in second with 11 percent; Sarah Palin in third with 9 percent; Laura Bush in fourth with 7 percent; and Dick Cheney in last with 4 percent.

Haha, 46% is "none of these". Also an apparent testament to the tragic embarrassment and near complete and utter disaster that was their reign of incompetence. Rice, W, Palin, Laura, and Dick. When they're not evil, they're just boring.
Well lets see, if 46% say they wouldn't read any that says a majority, 54% are looking to read one. Seems 54% is more than 46%.
And have we asked about any memoirs from left of center?
Oh, and BTW, Glenn Beck currently leads Ted Kennedy on the NYT's Bestseller list.
What was your point again Pineview?
The question that was asked was "most likely to read." It's amusing that given the choice of nothing vs. X or Y or Z, Nothing is more than twice as popular as any other single choice. Just had an amusing vision of sitting in some waiting room and seeing all those pretty books out on the table and saying "Nah, I'd rather sit here staring at the wall than crack open one of those."
You're right, the left of center book sales would be interesting to see.
How will W's match up against Clinton's My Life? Or Obama's Dreams From My Father?
Will Laura or Rice or Cheney outsell Hillary? I think it'd be interesting to compare. Anyone know a good site that tracks these things over time?
The problem with the question is that it doesn't ask readers of memoirs, it asks the general public as near as I can tell.
I read a lot, but seldom do I read non-fiction so I would be in the category of one who would not read any. That doesn't mean you can tell anything about my feelings toward any of the individuals involved. Just says I don't like biographies and autobiographies.
