From a Quinnipiac poll released today:
Given four choices to describe their feelings about the President, American voters say:That's 74 percent who like Obama as a person, vs. 21 percent who don't--and 47 percent who like his policies, vs. 48 percent who don't. In political terms, that means he passes the "candidate I want to have a beer with" test...now, if only he can charmingly explain the merits of health care and energy reform over that beer.
• 46 percent like Obama as a person and like most of his policies;
• 28 percent like him as a person, but don't like most of his policies;
• 1 percent like his policies, but don't like him as a person;
• 20 percent don't like him or his policies.

I think you may have accidentally omitted a couple of the other finding from that poll:
Overall, voters disapprove 53% / 41% of President Obama’s handling of health care.
Independent voters disapprove 59% / 35%.
Overall, women voters disapprove 49% / 44%.
Moving on to the actual health care bill(s), the polling is even worse:
Independents disapprove 57% to 29%.
Women disapprove 47% to 36%.
No matter how much Americans would desire to have a beer summit with the President, they don’t want a government takeover of health care to get it.
Given the inevitable margin of error, it seems that about half of us like Obama's policies and half of us don't. A finding that is striking in how thoroughly unsurprising it is. And that completely undermines the title of this post, unless you are implying that the half of America that likes Obama's policies don't count as "Americans". An attitude that is like soooooooo 2008. But keep on hacking on, Chris Good. I'm sure that job at Politico is just waiting for you.
Slag - "Given the inevitable margin of error, it seems that about half of us like Obama's policies..."
The margin of error is +-2%
The results are WELL beyond the margin of error.
With all due repect, you are wrong.
The real news from that poll are the just deadly numbers for Obamacare.
