The New Deadline

Last week, in network interviews from Asia, President Obama said he'd sign a health care bill by the State of the Union, and Democrats appear to be on board: Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) told MSNBC that getting a bill to the president by that deadline is "absolutely our commitment." First August, then the end of the year, and now the State of the Union. Neither the House nor Senate has dates set in stone for when lawmakers will head home for the holidays and return to DC to resume work on a bill, and, if the House's Saturday vote was any indication, it looks like they'll be working overtime to get health care done--which is just what Brown promised: "We're going to be working weekends, we're going to be working into the night," he said.

The new deadline change by President Obama shows that the healthcare reform bill is proving harder than he thought. Every attempt in the book are been used to try to thwart real reform. It goes to show that money buys political influence and most politicians, particularly conservatives. The parry of supposed "compassion," conservatives are the ones who seem to not care for the common man that is dieing or severely ill because of lack of affordable insurance. Yet they are the Bible toting folks. I have read the Bible and I don't know which Bible is been read, because Jesus showed compassion and would vote for the current Healthcare reform bill on the Senate floor. http://www.mydochub.com

Jesus would have shown compassion, and He told the cripple and lame and lepors to stand up and walk, and they did. No new taxes were necessary.

There is no indication that Jesus would vote for a law that would compel people to do something. Of course, you read a different Bible than I have.

In factMatthew 11:28 says: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."

Not 'come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will make your neighbor take care of your needs.'

And in Matthew 4 it reads: "23Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. 24News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and he healed them."

Nothing about taxing the general public for the costs of the care. No mandates.

If you're going to quote Matthew at us, please read the rest of it, particularly Matthew 25:

41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'

46"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

If you've got a better plan for looking after "the least of these," let's hear it.

So, no need to try to get it right. To be fiscally conservative with it. Just let's "save face" and hope the electorate forget about it's cost in taxes and jobs before the next election.

Saw Bob Corker (R-TN) on Hardball last night. He was excellent! I want Republican input on this bill. I would prefer that they throw Reid's bill out and start over.
