They've All Got Books

If you want to run for president in 2012, write a book. All three of the top potential GOP candidates--Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee, and Mitt Romney--will be going on book tours to promote theirs between now and the 2010 elections, a time where they'll be looking to beef up their influence and image, take in PAC donations, and generally get some face time out in America, where they'll have to campaign for real, sooner or later, if they want to be president of the United States.

We've heard a lot recently about Sarah Palin's "Going Rogue: An American Life," and the publicity tour she announced yesterday on her Facebook page. It'll include book signings across the nation (Palin says she "hope[s] to cover as much of the country as I can") plus, she also hopes, appearances on Bill O'Reilly, Barbara Walters, Sean Hannity, Greta Van Susteren, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham, Dennis Miller, Tammy Bruce, and others.

Huckabee, meanwhile, is promoting his Christmas book, "A Simple Christmas: Twelve Stories that Celebrate the True Holiday Spirit." He's doing a 60-city signing tour, mostly through the South and Midwest, which is already underway (if you're in the DC area, he'll be at the Costco in Pentagon City today from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.), plus media appearances.

But we haven't heard as much about Mitt Romney, who has a book called "No Apology: The Case for American Greatness," to come out in March. Romney told supporters today, via a fundraising email to the Free and Strong America list, that he'll be touring the country to promote it between now and then, wrapped up in his overarching goal of promoting conservatism and backing conservative candidates:

We should be proud of what we have accomplished together; but this is no time to rest on our laurels. We must begin building upon these victories today to ensure that we have the resources we need to take back the Congress in 2010. Next year I'll also be traveling the country talking about my upcoming book, "No Apology: The Case for American Greatness," which will be published in March. I believe that the decisions we make today will determine what course America takes, and I want to make sure we remain the world's economic and military superpower.
So far, Romney has timed his book more closely to the 2010 elections. But you never know, Tim Pawlenty, Eric Cantor, and Newt Gingrich all probably have a good story to tell...

Usually people have to pay for this kind of advertising. How much didja get? Did they at least buy you dinner beforehand?

Huckabee's really doesn't sound like a campaign book; the other two do.

Ronald Reagan's memoirs are entitled "An American Life" as well; clearly, subtlety and originality are not Sarah Palin's strong points.

"slag",

I think I understand your point of view; it is quite a limited list. The article reminds me of the Presidential Primary where three candidates seemingly chosen at the beginning were highlighted throughout, while the others were marginalized (to varying degrees) by most media outlets.

As an alternative, please consider an unpaid advocate's own suggestions:

In his book "A Foreign Policy of Freedom: Peace, Commerce, and Honest Friendship" Congressman Paul "provides a history of economic policy in the United States and uses this history to argue that the same free market principals applied to U.S. domestic policy should be applied to U.S. foreign policy." http://search.barnesandnoble.com/A-Foreign-Policy-of-Freedom/Ron-Paul/e/9780912453002

Congressman Paul's most recent book is "End the Fed" http://search.barnesandnoble.com/End-the-Fed/Ron-Paul/e/9780446549196

"Most people think of the Fed as an indispensable institution without which the country's economy could not properly function. But in END THE FED, Ron Paul draws on American history, economics, and fascinating stories from his own long political life to argue that the Fed is both corrupt and unconstitutional. It is inflating currency today at nearly a Weimar or Zimbabwe level, a practice that threatens to put us into an inflationary depression where $100 bills are worthless.

Best regards,

Charles

Where is RON PAUL???? Our family votes him in!

"End The Fed" is a great book by Ron Paul that reports the truth on an all important issue concerning all Americans and it was not written simply to promote themselves regarding a run for president.

Ron Paul should have been on the list. He still holds records for money raised, his Campaign For Liberty is very active, and his support continues to grow with energy and even young people.

There should be at least one person who faithfully follows the Constitution on any list worthwhile.

..Ron Paul = Liberty = A Republic = Responsibility = The United States of American Constitution = Bill of Rights.. Read it!! It belongs to you!! No neocons no reds.. Vote for Freedom, People can you dig it..
..Do not take my word for it do the research.. Also check out appleseed project.com
..Did I mention, Ron Paul.............
